Bar Association Mediation Project Completed

On April 23, 2019, press-conference was held within the Bar Association Mediation Project, which Partners Serbia has been implementing for the past two years, in cooperation with the Bar Association Vojvodina (BAV) and the Bar Association Kragujevac (BAK). During the Conference, the Center for Mediation, established by the BAV, was presented to the attendees. This Center will be in charge of maintaining its internal list of mediators (consisting of lawyers who are BAV members), case management and training of mediators within the Lawyer’s Academy, having in mind that the Center was recently accredited by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia for conducting mediation training.

In addition, all promotional materials designed within the Project were presented at the Conference, as well as the short guide for lawyers, to help them in their further work in introducing mediation as an alternative dispute resolution method, both to their clients and their colleagues alike.

 This press-conference was the last activity within a series of events organized during the Project implementation period. Some of the activities conducted also included: 8 half-day public discussions on mediation, 4 two-day training on representing clients in mediation, 1 five-day basic mediation training and 4 promotional events for the representatives of business sector on benefits of mediation, as an out-of-court dispute resolution method which leads to enabling better business environment. Within this Project, over 450 lawyers, trainees and business representatives had the opportunity to learn more about mediation, its benefits, as well as to master some of the basic skills in this field.

The Project was implemented with the support of the MATRA Program of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Serbia.
