Specialized training – advanced negotiation and communication skills
Description
The goal of the training: developing negotiation and communication skills in everyday and business life, aiming to understand motives and reasons for different type of communication by other parties, in order to improve and meliorate interpersonal relations.
By attending this two-day training, the participants will acquire a certificate of completion, for a total of 12 hours of advanced training, needed to renew the License to Mediate
The training is intended for mediators who have successfully completed the Basic Training for Mediators, as well as attorneys, lawyers, managers, and other employees within enterprises, public companies, institutions, public and nongovernmental sector, advisers and consultants, employees within human resources sector, as well as all others who are, within their daily activities, included in negotiations and resolving disputes.
The training includes the following topics:
- Overcoming obstacles in communication/negotiation and the effects of long-term dissatisfaction/conflict within a relationship
- Working with intense emotions (sadness, fear, anger) and resistance towards changes
- Language of positive action – translating negatively defined statements into affirmative ones
- Motivating parties to choose mediation

Lecturers
Dragana Cuk Milankov
Psychologist, facilitator and mediator, licensed by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia. President of the Center for Alternative Conflict Resolution (CARS). She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade. She worked at the Clinic for Neurology and Psychiatry for Children and Youth in Belgrade, as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist. Active in the field of mediation since 2002. Long-term consultant of the German governmental organization for technical assistance and cooperation (GIZ), within the project “Strengthening Structures for Youth Empowerment and Participation”, on the programs of school mediation and community mediation. Engaged in “Atina”, organization which provides support to the victims of human trafficking. Participated in several projects to establish a mediation service in Serbia and Montenegro. In 2009, she was hired as a UNDP national consultant on the program to support the implementation of anti-discrimination legislation and mediation in Serbia. Since 2011, she has been the coordinator of the working group of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality for establishing mediation service in discrimination cases. In 2013, she was a UNWoman consultant on the program to support the establishment of a trusted mechanism within the security sector, in the field of mediation skills. She was hired as a guest lecturer in specialist studies in the field of mediation at the Faculty of Political Sciences (University of Belgrade). Member of the South East European Mediation Forum (SEEMF), Mediation Training Institute Community and National Association of Mediators of Serbia (NUMS). Author of numerous manuals and publications.
Blazo Nedic
International accredited mediator, attorney, coach, and consultant, with over 25 years of experience in Serbia, Europe, and the USA. He graduated from the Faculty of Law (University of Belgrade), completed postgraduate studies at the Metropolitan University of London (UK), and master's studies at the Faculty of Law of Pepperdine University in Los Angeles (USA). Licensed mediator and accredited trainer for conducting basic and specialized training of mediators by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, mediator on the list of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality. Certified by the ABA Dispute Resolution Section, ADR Group, JAMS International and World Bank. Member of the global network of mediators - ADR Center from Rome (Italy) and the Serbian National Association of Mediators (NUMS). Active in the field of mediation since 2002, since 2006 he has been dealing exclusively with out-of-court settlement of disputes, and as a mediator he has acted in several hundred commercial, property, labor, and discrimination disputes. Guest lecturer at the Mediation Clinic at the Faculty of Law (University of Belgrade). From 2001 to 2008, he worked as a legal advisor to the USAID Judicial Reform Program in Serbia, organized by ABA/CEELI, on legal reform and alternative dispute resolution projects. Member of working groups for drafting the Law on Mediation. Author of numerous professional publications and blogs, he regularly holds trainings and presentations on the topic of mediation and dispute resolution at domestic, regional, and international conferences and events. He conducts mediation in Serbian and English.
