Invitation to the conference "The Future of Freedom of Information"

26.08.2024.

Partners for Democratic Change Serbia (Partners Serbia), in cooperation with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), cordially invite you to the conference "The Future of Freedom of Information". The conference will be organized on September 6, 2024, in the Hotel Zira (Ruzveltova 35, Belgrade) from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Transparency of public institutions and access to information of public importance are foundational principles of any democratic society, as they enable citizens to be informed and participate in the decision-making processes. This year, we mark the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance in Serbia, which is an opportunity to examine the quality of this regulation and the effects of its implementation. In addition, by organizing the “Future of Freedom of Information" conference, Partners Serbia also marks the International Right to Know Day (28 September).

The Conference will bring together local, regional and international experts, journalists, activists, and decision-makers who will discuss key issues in the field of freedom of information. Three panels will provide an opportunity for the participants to discuss global trends and threats to freedom of information and access to information, the current situation in the field of freedom of access to information in Serbia and the region, as well as the role of young journalists and activists in protecting the right to access to information and freedom of speech. Also, the results of this year's research implemented by Partners Serbia on openness and transparency of the executive, legislative, and judicial authorities will be presented.

Kindly confirm your participation at the conference by September 2, 2024, using the registration form at the link:
